Independent educational guide · Never share your recovery phrase
THE QUICK OVERVIEW
Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody wallet for exploring supported crypto networks and decentralized applications. Browser wallet access can let you connect to compatible sites from a desktop browser, while you remain responsible for managing your wallet and protecting access to it.
Wallet products, browser support, and setup steps can change. Availability may also vary by location and device. Treat this page as general education, then use Coinbase’s official website and Help Center for current product instructions.

You’re responsible for your recovery phrase, device security, and the transactions you approve.
Review each site and permission before connecting. A familiar-looking site is not proof that it is safe.
A SAFER START
Take your time. If anything feels unexpected, stop and return to an official Coinbase source before continuing.
Visit Coinbase Help CenterStart at Coinbase’s official Wallet page or Help Center. Follow the current link provided there, and confirm the publisher and requested permissions before you install anything.
Follow the wallet’s on-screen setup. If you already have a wallet, use its official recovery flow. Never enter a recovery phrase into a support chat, website link, or form.
Write the phrase down offline and keep it somewhere private and protected. Anyone who gets it may be able to control the assets in that wallet.
When a site asks to connect, check the domain and requested permissions. Connecting a wallet is not the same as approving a transaction.
PROTECT WHAT MATTERS
Simple checks can help you avoid common wallet scams. No wallet or security practice eliminates every risk.
Coinbase support will never need your recovery phrase. Do not share it with anyone or store it in screenshots, email, or cloud notes.
Use Coinbase’s official website to find current installation guidance. Double-check domains, publisher details, and permissions before proceeding.
Pause before signing. Confirm the network, destination, amount, and approval scope. A transaction may be irreversible once it is sent.
Remember: Coinbase staff will not ask you for your recovery phrase. Anyone requesting it is not a legitimate support representative.

More answers in Coinbase HelpNo. A self-custody wallet is different from a Coinbase account. Wallets can have separate access credentials and recovery responsibilities. Review Coinbase’s current product documentation to understand how its products relate.
Start at coinbase.com/wallet or the official Coinbase Help Center and follow the links listed there. Avoid sponsored lookalike results, unsolicited messages, and third-party download pages.
A recovery phrase can provide access to a self-custody wallet. Keep it private, store it securely offline, and never share it—not with a support agent, a website, or someone claiming they can help.
Support can change over time. Check Coinbase’s official guidance for currently supported browsers, devices, and regions before setting up or troubleshooting wallet access.
A connected site may request access or ask you to sign a transaction. Read the request carefully and confirm the site, network, and transaction details. Do not approve anything you don’t understand.
